It’s not sci-fi.

Not content to just be one of the best in its class when combining quality and classic German-engineered performance, the all-new Jetta is also one of the most fuel-efficient compact sedans on the market, thanks to the TDI Clean Diesel model. From the 115-horsepower, 2.0L entry-level engine with 125 lb-ft of torque to the super clean and powerful (and amazingly quiet) 2.0 TDI Clean Diesel with 140-horsepower and available Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG). And because some driver’s prefer automatic, all engines are available with 6-speed automatic with Tiptronic®, so you can literally have it both ways.

TDI – Clean Diesel is the new way of driving diesel. “Clean Diesel” encompasses two things: engine technology that reduces emissions to extremely low levels, and the ultra-low sulphur diesel fuel now available at pumps across the country that enables the technology. As for “TDI,” it stands for Turbocharged Direct Injection. But how does all this work? In a nutshell, the turbocharger supplies the engine with pressurized fresh air for maximum efficiency during cylinder charging. After compression, clean diesel fuel is injected straight into the cylinders at very high pressure. This results in outstanding fuel economy, low emissions and a whole lot of torque. And with engine noise and vibration drastically reduced with more effective engine encapsulation, the old telltale sound of a diesel engine has been reduced to a mere whisper. Now that’s something worth shouting about.

Butterflies come standard.
Exterior – Just how different is the Jetta’s new exterior? Well, the difference begins with bold, f luid horizontal lines that put the dynamic in aerodynamic. From the high-gloss radiator grille and a car-racing-inspired cooling air intake and aggressive diffuser – giving the Jetta a sport finish like never before. And that’s only the beginning. The aerodynamic V-shaped hood gives the Jetta a truly defined character creating the impression that it can slice through just about anything. Powerful shoulders emphasize the wheel wells, which in turn emphasize the available 17" alloy wheels. And thanks to wide track dimensions, the wheel arches can accommodate up to 18-inch wheels. Aerodynamic outside mirrors with available integrated turn signal indicators and visually stunning split fender-to-tailgate tail lights that without a doubt shine a whole new light. Shame that only the driver behind you can see them.

Interior – Let’s start with the wheelbase. It’s longer, and because it’s longer it means that a whole lot of changes could be translated inside the Jetta. For one, it’s roomier. In fact, it has the most backseat legroom and the most cargo space in its class*. A standard 60/40 split-folding rear seat and available pass-through makes it easy to fit just about anything inside the Jetta. With 6-way adjustable passenger and driver seats, or the available 8-way adjustable driver seat, you won’t have to worry about aches and pains on long trips. Available sports seats in leatherette are also a nice touch if you’re looking for a sportier cockpit. And throughout the perfectly sculpted cabin, technology and precision German-engineered workmanship go hand in hand to give you an unparalleled driving experience. For instance, the new steering wheel with available multifunction keys, and the redesigned and more intuitive dashboard. The centre console is perfectly aligned for the driver – giving you virtually effortless access to climate control, the radio and the very helpful, premium yet affordable available touch-screen navigation system. Also at your beck and call – available Bluetooth® with voice activation.

 Engine – What’s your drive in life? With the Jetta, you have three different engines to choose from depending on your driving style. So let’s get started. An econ mical and reliable 115-horsepower, 2.0L engine, and for drivers who want to take it up a few notches (you know who you are), the 170-horsepower, 2.5L, 5-cylinder engine. For those who want power to spare while optimizing fuel efficiency and lowering emissions, there’s the 2.0 TDI Clean Diesel – turbocharged yet undeniably quiet. What’s more, all engine models come with available 6-speed Tiptronic® automatic transmission or available Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG).

Safety standards come standard.
 

Every Volkswagen comes standard with many features that work in harmony to both help you avoid an accident and help protect you if an accident is unavoidable. And we are constantly updating it, because when it comes to safety, there is no finish line.

Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) – Once a certain severity of crash has been detected, all doors are unlocked, the battery terminal is disconnected from the alternator cable, the fuel supply is shut off, warning hazards are switched on, and high consumption electrical components are shut off, all automatically.

Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) – Reduces wheel spin under acceleration, by reducing the torque output of the engine.
 

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) – ESC helps the driver maintain their intended course by generating corrective forces. ESC is most effective when the driver is taking evasive action during sudden manoeuvres, like when avoiding an accident. This feature is standard on all Volkswagen models.

6 standard airbags* – Every Jetta comes standard with front and side thorax airbags for front seat passengers, as well as Side Curtain Protection® airbags which can deploy in severe side impacts to help reduce head injuries for front and rear seat occupants.

Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD) – Integrated into the anti-lock brake system, this technology automatically reduces the amount of brake force to the rear wheels to reduce the chance of wheel lock-up.

Anti-intrusion side door beams – High-strength steel reinforcements in each door which are designed to absorb impact energy to provide additional
protection in side impacts.
