We’ve turned the convertible inside out.

Meet the 2012 Eos, the award-winning hardtop convertible from Volkswagen, aptly named after the goddess of dawn. Luxurious yet surprisingly affordable, this European droptop has the liberty and spirit of a cabriolet and the comfort and performance of a coupe. Innovation and exhilaration go into overdrive, from the revolutionary first-of-its-kind convertible hardtop with sunroof to its power-pushing 200-horsepower engine, with standard 6-speed transmission, versatile features and added comforts. Outstanding technology and undeniable sophistication have come together to bring discerning drivers the thrill of the road and the beauty of the sky. If that sounds like music to your ears – and feels like wind through your hair – then the Eos might just be right for you.

Hang on to your Lederhosen*.
We like to think of the innovative roof system as a very grand introduction to all the technological innovations inside. Standard ESC (Electronic Stability Control) to help you stay in control and minimize skids. A rear park distance control system so that you know exactly where you stand, or should we say, park. And a standard 8-speaker sound system to keep you in tune. But it doesn’t end there: fog lights integrated into the front bumper are just one of the Eos’s very safe and standard features. Other availables include a touch-screen navigation system and a Media Device Interface (MDI) with iPod® connectivity, Bluetooth® connectivity with voice activation. Or go big with a 10-speaker, 600-watt Dynaudio® Premium Digital Sound System and 120 channels from SIRIUS® Satellite Radio.

* Lederhosen (le·der·ho·sen) noun – Leather shorts, often with suspenders, considered to be leisurewear worn by men.

Freedom in fast-forward.
Underneath the attractive appearance of this hardtop convertible lies the dynamic performance ability of a coupe. Proof lies in the 2.0 TSI 200-horsepower engine with 6-speed manual transmission that delivers pure power whether the top is up or down. Plus, there’s an optional 6-speed automatic Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) race-inspired transmission that shifts in just four one-hundredths of a second.

BlueMotion Technologies
BlueMotion™ Technologies isn’t just a single technology, it’s a range of innovations designed to help the environment and to help you get more out of your driving experience. We’re deeply committed to improving every aspect of our vehicles. From improved transmissions and better aerodynamics to weightreduction
technologies that lead to drastically reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Here are a few innovative technologies that make the Eos more efficient:

DSG – A definite shift for the better. DSG stands for Direct Shift Gearbox. In essence, it gives you the convenience of an automatic with the performance and efficiency of a manual. Here’s how it works. DSG is managed by dual electronically controlled clutches, so not only do you shift faster, you also get enhanced acceleration and reduced fuel consumption. In fact, thanks to DSG, each shift takes less than 4/100ths of a second. And if you’re the manual type, a quick f lip of the Tiptronic® function
lets you shift into something a little sportier.

TSI – TSI brings together the power of FSI direct fuel injection with the extra oomph of a turbocharger. The end result? An ultra-efficient engine that provides maximum torque from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm, gives you outstanding performance through a wide range of speeds, power when you really need it, ultra-low fuel consumption and, ultimately, lower CO2 emissions.

Wind included.
Interior
– The interior calls out to the driver with comfortable seating, ergonomic controls at your fingertips and a view that can’t be beat. As with every Volkswagen interior, the Eos is designed with f lexibility and comfort in mind. For once we can say, you won’t be blown away, thanks to a pop-up wind def lector integrated into the windshield and rear wind blocker installed over the rear seats to help reduce cabin wind turbulence in the front seats. And for not-so-convertible days – heatable front seats. Since half the fun of a droptop is having your friends along for the ride, Eos features easy-entry front seats so that rear seat passengers don’t have to be contortionists to get in or out of the back seat. Just as brilliant and practical is the white cockpit lighting and a fully upholstered luggage compartment that fits up to 0.29 cubic metres with the top up and 0.18 cubic metres with the top down. For those that like a few extras, there’s also available Climatronic® automatic climate control, 12-way power driver seat and more.

Engine – The Eos features a 2.0L turbocharged engine that will make the small hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. The Autobahn-tested, direct fuel-injected turbo engine puts out 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque, making this 2-door coupe remarkably fun, no matter which position the roof is in. Available in either 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission with race-inspired DSG – a dual-clutch system that shifts gears quicker than you can say “go.” If you think German engineering sounds sweet already, just wait until you hear it with the top down

Everything under one roof.
Ever since its grand opening the Eos convertible has been honoured and celebrated, but never equalled. Truth be told, it’s easy to see why. Not content just to create a hardtop convertible, our engineers decided to take it one step further by making it the world’s first hardtop convertible with a sunroof. The roof folds down into the trunk in 25 seconds.

Exterior – Volkswagen has a rich history of dropping the top. From the original Beetle convertible to the iconic Karmann Ghia to the classic Cabrio. Now, the culmination of all that rich droptop history comes in the shape of a 2-door hardtop convertible. Convertibles, just like any other species, evolve. And some faster than others. In fact, the Eos hardtop can open or close in a mere 25 seconds. In a stunning display of engineering, hydraulics in the top orchestrate a speedy, reliable transformation from hardtop to open air. When closed, the Coupe-Sunroof-Convertible (CSC) roof remains airtight and ultra-quiet at any speed, keeping the interior light and airy. The integrated sunroof opens wide for those days you want just a little bit of the outdoors.

Safety standards come standard.
Every Volkswagen comes standard with many features that work in harmony to both help you avoid an accident and help protect you if an accident is unavoidable. And we are constantly updating it, because when it comes to safety, there is no finish line.

Automatic rollover protection – Behind the head restraints in the back seat are two hidden steel beams. To increase safety, they’re designed to automatically deploy should an impending rollover be detected.

Combination head/thorax airbags* – Seat-integrated airbags designed to deploy in a severe side collision to help reduce head and torso injury.

Electromechanical power steering system – Your Eos’s steering has electronically variable power assist, which makes parking easier and highway driving more stable. Also, since it doesn’t use steering f luid, it’s a completely sustainable solution.

Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD) – Integrated into the anti-lock braking system, this technology automatically reduces the amount of brake force to the rear wheels to reduce the chance of wheel lock-up.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) – ESC helps the driver maintain theirintended course by generating corrective forces. ESC is most effective when the driver is taking evasive action during sudden manoeuvres, like when avoiding an accident. This feature is standard on all Volkswagen models.

* Airbags are supplemental restraints only and will not deploy under all accident scenarios.
Always use safety belts and seat children only in the rear seat, using restraint systems
appropriate for their size and age.
