The engineering team in Germany worked diligently to redesign the Touareg, and what they present to you is a very sophisticated result. A completely redesigned interior space that understands that passengers, as well as drivers, deserve preferential treatment. Proactive safety features, like Intelligent Crash Response System which automatically unlocks all doors, disconnects the battery terminal from the starter, shuts off the fuel supply and turns on the warning hazards and interior lights when a severe crash is detected. There’s also a standard navigation system with an ample 8" screen, an 8-way power driver and passenger comfort seat system and an available automatic tailgate that opens and closes simply by pressing a button. This is just a mere sampling of all the innovative thinking and craftsmanship that went into the Touareg – not just redesigned, but totally reinvented.

There are driver-friendly functions like the electronic parking brake which can be set and released with the touch of a finger, Tire Pressure Monitoring System which notifies you immediately if any tire is losing air, auto-dimming interior mirror and 4MOTION® all-wheel drive system with Torsen differential, giving you a 31-degree climbing angle and stability on any type of ground service. Full 8-speed ahead
The all-new reshaped Touareg is lighter than its predecessor – a giant leap in design engineering – giving you improved aerodynamics and higher fuel efficiency. Speaking of leaps, both the TDI Clean Diesel and 3.6 FSI gas engines now come equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic®. More gears reduce engine speed for better fuel economy, which in turn contributes to fewer emissions. But with these impressive engines, efficiency doesn’t have to come at the expense of power. The all-new Touareg delivers better overall on-road performance and very competent off-road capabilities – because you never know where your sense of adventure could take you next.

TDI – Clean Diesel is the new way of driving diesel. “Clean Diesel” encompasses two things: engine technology that reduces emissions to extremely low levels, and the ultra-low sulphur diesel fuel now available at pumps across the country. As for “TDI”, it stands for Turbocharged Direct Injection, a technologically advanced step in the right direction. The turbocharger supplies the engine with pressurized fresh air for maximum efficiency during cylinder charging. After compression, clean diesel fuel is injected straight into the cylinders at very high pressure. This results in outstanding fuel economy, low emissions and torque to spare. And with engine noise and vibration drastically reduced with more effective engine encapsulation, the old telltale sound of a diesel engine has been reduced to a mere whisper.

Exterior – More than redesigned, the all-new Touareg is completely reimagined. From the bold new exterior lines to the luxuriously appointed interior, we’ve made sure Touareg drivers are left wanting nothing more. Thanks to “intelligent downsizing”, the Touareg features reduced weight and improved aerodynamics. All this while increasing in size – 12 mm wider and 41 mm longer. So not only is the Touareg an elegantly streamlined vehicle with a rugged edge, it delivers the intelligent touch of improved fuel efficiency. Engine – Underneath the stylish sculpted hood of the Touareg, you have the choice of two imposing engines. The 3.6 FSI, 280-horsepower engine commanding 265 lb-ft of torque. Or choose the 225-horsepower 3.0 TDI and get an impressive 406 lb-ft of torque from a remarkably quiet TDI Clean Diesel engine. A tough choice, indeed. Both options come with an 8-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic® that effortlessly delivers the power and performance you need for whatever lies ahead, even with up to 3,500 kg in tow.* Active features like standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive system will assist you on even the most exciting excursions with exceptional traction, handling and stability. Every Volkswagen comes standard with many features that work in harmony to both help you avoid an accident and help protect you if an accident is unavoidable. And we are constantly updating it, because when it comes to safety, there is no finish line.
 

WOKS – One of the newest Touareg safety features, WOKS, or whiplash-optimized head restraints for the front driver and passenger seats, are a new innovation in passive safety providing improved protection in the event of a rear impact.
 

Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) – After the airbags have been deployed, the Intelligent Crash Response System automatically unlocks all doors, disconnects the battery from the starter, disables the fuel pump, and turns on the hazard and interior lights. That’s why we call it intelligent.
 

Auto Hold – Whether you’re going up or downhill, Auto Hold controls the hydraulic pressure to help prevent the vehicle from rolling forward or backward once you come to a complete stop. Even if you take your foot off the brake.
 

Electronic parking brake – No need to pull levers and push pedals to set your parking brake. Just simply pull the electronic brake button, and it will activate. To get going, press the button while your foot is on the brake and it will release.
 

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) – ESC helps the driver maintain their intended course by generating corrective forces. ESC is most effective when the driver is taking evasive action during sudden manoeuvres, like when avoiding an accident. This feature is standard on all Volkswagen models.
 

Electronic Brake-pressure Distribution (EBD) – Integrated into the anti-lock braking system, this technology automatically reduces the amount of brake force to the rear wheels to reduce the chance of wheel lock-up.
 

Fog lights – Additional lights engineered to send a low, wide beam to the road improve visibility in adverse weather conditions. This design effectively reduces the amount of light ref lected off rain, fog or snow.
